1935...Joseph Stalin

Dear Dad,
Hey Dad I am back in Russia... It's now 1935. Lenin's sudden death in 1924 made it like whoaaa for communists. Joseph Djugashvili... whom changed his name to Mister Joseph Stalin (man of steel). The soviets.... Stalin... = blehk... the soviet union, when government officials can make basic decisions. Stalin forced peasants to give their private land and forcing them to live on state-owned farms or collectives.

Stalin had this most beast of a plan to destroy the kulaks, wealthy peasants. Eventually their land was confiscated and the rich poor dudes were sent off to labor camps where thousands were killed or died from being overworked. Stalin (and Lenin) wanted to bring about the worldwide revolution Karl Marx spoke of, but being from Russia he wanted to guarantee nationwide security. But security is hard if a worldwide revolution is about... soooo what to doooo what to doo!? I don't know that but I do know I still don't want to be present in Russia.

Russia 1917

Dear Dad,
Hey Daddy! I am in Russia today... and whoa... it is just wow right now. There is a lot of fighting going on. Many still suffering from the impact of world war I. Now on top of it all the March Revolution (February Revolution) has begun. I was afraid for my own life being here.... it is a beautiful place and yet so much violence is present.
Panic.... [picture 1]
Then there was the Bolsheviks, along with Lenin and Stalin. They took place in the November Revolution. They were ruthless fighters. For Moscow, it took a week of fighting to hurt the local government. Moscow... it was turned into the Bolsheviks' capital...They even ended ownership of private land and distributed it to peasants. Dad, this place is extremely UN safe and I really do NOT want to be here today. It is dangerous, and not a happy place. People are in constant fear or a constant fight. I hope to come home soon, and that everything in Russia gets better soon.

I'm American not British (:

I am just that little town girl from Alabama... I visited Brazil. WOOOOOWWW! That is oneee place I never wanted to leave! I visited many places, tried on some clothes, and ate some new food. Since I don't have much room to tell you the whole sha-bang that is Brazil I will mention a few things. I first visited the Statue of Corcovado on the mountain of Rio de Janeiro. It was freaky amazing and way huge! This is a statue of Christ that overlooks the city.

One of the Tallest... and attracts millions of people

After that, I went to a local market. Obseriving the little things on the way I saw what was so small but most beauutiful. A brazilian orchid. A little flower that would dress up anything. I grabbed some fruit from the market that i had never seen before. It almost looked like a fuzzy potato! It was called Cupuaçu and it was kind of tart. But it was really good! It is a popular fruit in Brazil.

Aloha?.. Yes, Hawaii

Hawaiian Sunset on the Beach
Hawaii is most definitely one of the most gorgeous places on earth. I myself love the ocean and am a sucker for a good sunset and some palm trees... and I'm not the only one who is glad to have Hawaii part of the United States. But, Hawaii didn't go down without a fight. Queen Liliuokalani was determined to keep Hawaii free. But that obviously didn't happen. To me this isn't a question or argument to ask someone like me. This is something that the natives of Hawaii want. Whether they enjoy being a part of the U.S. or not is not a part for me to say. I am not the kind of person to argue about something like that.
Queen Liliuokalani
Hawaiians just want what's best for there home land. They have done well keeping it a beautiful place, and I'm sure if i was a native there i wouldn't want to be taken over by the United States. It is almost like their own island. Like in the movies, you see those few people who inhabit an island and want it as their own. When someone comes along and tries to take it they get protective. I wouldn't mind if Hawaii was its own country or it own territory because it would just be like every other beautiful place you just wish to get to someday. Some place like Sydney, Australia... Costa Rica... Brazil... and any other beautiful places. It would be just like that. Them being part of the U.S. is just a perk. Just a place to get away. A place that should be taken care of....
Costa Rica-What would you do if your beautiful land was taken from you...?

Yikes man, first post!

Hey... this is suppose to be a introduction and I am not very good with introductions. BUT! This is a website used for history class. Not just for boring blah blah blah purposes but for creative thinking reasons. A blog is a perfect way to get through to one's mind what you are learning and what you have learned. Reviewing posts, new pictures, and asking questions. When it comes to the blog I have always come up with a new question, never have I just learned one chapter of material. I learn the whole picture and it sticks.

did you get your "Ah Hah" moment yet?
